Anytime Fitness announced plans Wednesday (July 22) to open a fitness center on the ground floor of University Park, West Virginia University’s new contemporary mixed-use residence hall and apartment complex on the Evansdale campus.

The development is a public-private partnership, which will include approximately 1,310 beds, food services and retail development that will benefit both WVU students and the surrounding neighborhood.

The 4,340-square-foot facility is slated to open in late November, just in time for the holidays.

Anytime Fitness has been ranked as the top fitness franchise by Entrepreneur magazine’s for four consecutive years, and is second franchise overall.

“As a graduate of WVU and the father of three Mountaineers, I am beyond excited that I can offer a positive service to the students and local community, and in the process create job opportunities,” owner Mark Ciamarra said. “It is especially rewarding to be working with my two sons in the town that has brought us all so many great memories.”

The new Anytime Fitness is located within walking distance of WVU’s Health Sciences Campus, Ruby Memorial Hospital, Milan Puskar Stadium, WVU’sCollege of Law, and WVU’s main transportation hub, Mountaineer Station. The club will be priced to accommodate students and will accept Mountie Bounty.

The fitness center will be open 24 hours every day and be available not only for WVU students, but also the Greater Morgantown community and visitors. The club will bring approximately between 15 and 20 new jobs to the area and will also contribute to the city, county and state tax base.
