For its 2014-2015 season finale, the WVU School of Theatre and Dance’s LAB Theatre will present “Graveyard Cinema” written by student Zachary S. Michael and “R.N.D.E.” written by student Jason Lee, May 1-2 at 7:30 p.m. and May 3 at 2 p.m., in the Vivian Davis Michael Laboratory Theatre at the Creative Arts Center.

“Graveyard Cinema,” is the curtain-warmer or opening shorter-length show before the full production of “R.N.D.E.” In “Graveyard Cinema,” an ambitious director and his crew attempt to shoot a scene from a horror-themed TV program. When the camera rolls, however, things do not go as planned.

Written and directed by BFA Puppetry student Jason Lee (with co-direction by BFA Puppetry student Ben Stansbery) “R.N.D.E.” concerns a very particular virus that turns people into Randy Newman! Once people are infected, their characters become Randy Newman-like puppets, taking on the idiosyncrasies of the iconic singer-songwriter. Exploring the idea of conformity in a most extreme and hilarious manner, “R.N.D.E.” is a delightful and wonderfully unique way to close out the LAB Theatre season.

“Graveyard Cinema” features Theatre students Matthew Woodard, Katelyn Burns, Yuya Kudo, Stephanie Stockman, and Zachary S. Michael and “R.N.D.E.” features Theatre students Luigi Pagano, Mallory Robson, Brianna Bowers, Josh Short, and Amber Wright.

Lighting design is by BFA Design/Tech student James Brown and the stage manager is BFA Puppetry student Jack Berberette.

Admission is free for both “Graveyard Cinema” and “R.N.D.E.,” but seating is limited. Attendance forms for classes will be available after the show.
