'Gee Mail' hits the road again – this time under the gold-and-blue dome (VIDEO)

WVU recently turned the West Virginia Capitol gold-and-blue for WVU and WVU Extension Day at the Legislature. It was the perfect opportunity for President Gordon Gee to ambush lawmakers and Capitol-goers with his quirky, roving reporter persona.

Most are familiar with the West Virginia Capitol’s glorious gold-and-blue dome.

On Feb. 13, West Virginia University also turned the interior of the Capitol gold-and-blue for WVU and WVU Extension Day at the Legislature. It was the perfect opportunity for President Gordon Gee to ambush lawmakers and Capitol-goers with his quirky, roving reporter persona.

This edition of “Gee Mail” features appearances by Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin, Senate President Bill Cole, House Speaker Tim Armstead and other West Virginia lawmakers. Gee also meets up with 4-H’ers, WVU students and other folks roaming the state Capitol.

Beneath the surface, Gee’s visit to Charleston had a serious message.

“It is extremely important for West Virginia University to be present in Charleston and in the policymaking process,” Gee said, “and it is just as important for our elected officials to be present and cognizant of West Virginia University.

“Our campus does not end in Morgantown. And our partnerships do not end outside of campus. Together, working with our public officials and the residents of West Virginia, we can move the Mountain State to an even higher level.”
