Lloyd A. “Buddy” Stemple, chief executive officer of Constellium Rolled Products Ravenswood, LCC, will deliver the annual Gochenour Lecture in the Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering, on Friday, March 6, at 4 p.m. in room 113 of the Mineral Resources Building on the Evansdale Campus at West Virginia University.

The lecture, entitled “Lessons from an Average Student,” is free and open to the public.

A two-time graduate of WVU, Stemple earned his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and his master’s degree in business administration in 1982 and 1987, respectively. He began his career in the aluminum industry in 1979 with Kaiser Aluminum and moved to Alcan Aluminum/Novelis in 1983, where he held various positions in operations, human relations, sales and marketing. He moved up the ranks and eventually became vice president and general manager of Novelis Specialty Products through 2009.

In 2010, Stemple joined the Oman Aluminum Rolling Company, a 140,000-ton-per-year light gauge rolling facility in Sohar, Oman, as chief executive officer overseeing the establishment of the facility, organization and marketing plans for the company. The facility provides light gauge aluminum sheet to the food, heat exchanger and construction industries. In 2014, he returned to his hometown of Ravenswood to lead the Constellium facility, which is an industry leader in aerospace plate, general engineering plate and specialty rolled products.

The Donald L. Gochenour Lecture Series was established to honor the late Dr. Gochenour, a distinguished professor of industrial engineering at WVU.
