Members from 39 chapters of the Society of Women Engineers from across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Kentucky and West Virginia will come together at West Virginia University for the 2015 SWE Region G conference from Feb. 6-8.

“We are so proud to be hosting the Region G conference this year and are excited to show off all WVU has to offer throughout the weekend,” said Ali Kowalski, WVU section conference chair.

WVU’s section of SWE has packed more than 30 events into the conference including career panels, interview workshops and mentoring sessions. Highlights from the event include a networking lunch sponsored by Westinghouse and a banquet and awards dinner sponsored by Williams.

“The conference is a chance for SWE members to network with other collegiate and professional members, attend great events, participate in professional sessions and learn about engineering and leadership,” Kowalski said.

Other sponsors for the conference include The Babcock & Wilcox Company, Braskem, Cummins, Deloitte, The Dow Chemical Company, Eaton, FirstEnergy, HDR, IBM, Toyota, the U.S. Navy, Schlumberger, Accenture and Swagelok.

“This conference wouldn’t happen without the support of these local, national and global companies,” Kowalski said. “We really appreciate their donations and the time they spend attending the career fair, speaking at various sessions and helping us better our organization.”

The Society of Women Engineers is a nonprofit educational and service organization that empowers women to succeed and advance in the field of engineering and to be recognized for their life-changing contributions as engineers and leaders. The WVU section was recognized by the University in 2014 as student organization of the year.

“Being a part of SWE at WVU has been a life changing experience,” said Kowalski. “I hope attendees walk away with that same feeling after being a part of our conference.”
