West Virginia University will hold a bell-ringing ceremony Friday (Jan. 23) in remembrance of four students who died over the past three months.

The students being honored are:

  • A’Liyia Hancock, an 18-year-old freshman pre-sport management major from Minerva, Ohio, who died on Nov. 22
  • Jacob Janiak, a 19-year-old freshman business and economics major from Parkton, Maryland, who died on Jan. 1
  • Eric Schaetzle, a 22-year-old psychology graduate from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, who died on Dec. 19
  • Evan Woods, a 21-year-old sophomore criminology major from Charleston, West Virginia, who died on November 14

The service will begin around noon at Oglebay Plaza on WVU’s Downtown Campus, and those interested in attending are asked to be there at least 15 minutes beforehand. Family, friends and members of the University community are welcome to attend Friday’s ceremony.
