West Virginia University alumni and friends have the opportunity to add their unique WVU memorabilia to a new archive being constructed by the Division of Student Life.

The memorabilia project, initiated by retired Assistant Vice President for Student Life Gordon R. Thorn, will collect, preserve and make available to the WVU community the history of student life at the University.

Spanning more than six decades, the memorabilia can be found in the West Virginia Regional History Collection of the WVU Library on the Downtown Campus.

Materials include various years of “The Monticola,” the WVU yearbook, campus directories, post cards dating back to 1915 and photographs.

“Donation of historical documents and artifacts will shed light on the history of student life and the academic experience at WVU for years to come,” said Michael Ellington, associate vice president for Student Life. “In order to help grow our archive, I encourage alumni and others to join Mr. Thorn in donating WVU Student Life memorabilia.”

The West Virginia Regional History Collection is the foremost historical archives library in West Virginia, preserving the finest gathering of archives and manuscripts pertaining to the history of West Virginia and the central Appalachian region in existence.
