West Virginia University has again extended its exclusive “due diligence” agreement to explore the purchase of Mountain State University in Beckley until 11:59 p.m. on Dec. 29, officials said Monday (Dec. 22). The agreement had been scheduled to expire at 11:59 p.m. today.

During the extension, the University will continue to review academic possibilities and economic factors associated with acquiring an additional campus.

Following an update on the analysis during an executive session at its Dec. 19 meeting, Board of Governors Chairman James W. Dailey II said, “We continue to evaluate Mountain State in a very positive fashion. It presents opportunities for West Virginia students located in the southern part of the state.”
