West Virginia University has started to construct this year’s Toy Mountain. Each year since 2000, the WVU community has donated toys throughout the holiday season, which are given to Christian Help.

Toy Mountain will be constructed from community donations until Dec. 17 in the Mountainlair. WVU faculty, staff and students are encouraged to help by donating unwrapped toys valued at $5 or more. The toys will go to Christian Help.

WVU’s Office of Student Activities and the Student Government Association kicked off the toy drive at the men’s basketball game vs Lafayette on Sunday (Nov. 16).

Students Helping Other People (SHOP) and Toy Mountain programs have raised money and donated toys to help underprivileged children in and around the Morgantown area for many years.

Student Activities and SGA have requested the “wish lists” of 50 children (ages 5-12), and they will shop and wrap presents for these children. The presents will be given to the children during a pizza party on Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Hatfield’s. Mr. and Mrs. Claus and the Mountaineer Mascot will visit with the children during the party.

If you would like to donate, you can either drop off your toy in the Student Activities wing of the Mountainlair or place the toy in the donation bins that can be found across campus. Financial contributions can also be donated by Dec. 2 at noon.

Make checks payable to WVU S.H.O.P and mail to attention Susan Fusco, Student Activities, PO Box 6444, Morgantown, WV 26506. You can also make a donation through PayPal.
