Families of West Virginia University students will be welcomed to campus this weekend (Sept. 26-28) for the annual Fall Family Weekend.

This year’s weekend will be highlighted by the first-ever “Mountaineer Vogue” fashion show, which will be held on Saturday (Sept. 27) at 1:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

The WVU Fashion Show will feature some of the newest WVU-branded products available for purchase from the likes of Collegiate Tartan, Carhart and more. Parents and students will be able to sit back and enjoy the show as models – including WVU President Gordon Gee – walk the runway in some of the newest WVU fashions.

Families can enjoy a pepperoni roll, signature “Flying WV” cookies, giveaways and other prizes at the show. The first 300 guests will receive a free WVU t-shirt. WVU baseball coach Randy Mazey will also be stopping by to welcome WVU families to campus.

Other weekend events include a Welcome Reception on Friday (Sept. 26) from 5-7:30 p.m. in the Vandalia Lounge of the Mountainlair where representatives from various WVU units, such as Housing and Residence Life, Student Success, WELLWVU and others, will be on hand to answer questions.

Parents are also encouraged to stop by the Career Services Center open house from 5-6:30 p.m. on Friday. Parents can meet staff members and learn more about career opportunities for their students. Families can also enjoy a WVU men’s soccer game at Dick Dlesk Stadium at 7 p.m. Lastly, guests can visit WVUp All Night from 7p.m. to 2 a.m. and attend a Mountaineer Idol completion at 8:30 p.m.

Events have also been scheduled for families wanting to explore downtown Morgantown. On Friday, the annual Art is Food event, organized by the Mountaineer Parents Club and Main Street Morgantown, will be located at the corner of Fayette and Spruce streets from 5-7 p.m. The cost is $15 per person and includes samplings of food from downtown/Wharf District eateries provided through the Downtown Morgantown Restaurant Association. Tickets can be purchased at http://bit.ly/1m5GrVk.

Families venturing downtown on Friday can also enjoy the ArtsWalk, sponsored by Main Street Morgantown, Monongalia Art Center and Arts Monongahela. Families can stroll through more than 40 downtown businesses and see artwork from local artists from 6-9 p.m.

Saturday events continue with breakfast in residence halls, WVU Day on the Farm, zip lining through the University Forest and more.

Other activities throughout the weekend include campus tours, residence hall activities, classroom visits and use of the Student Recreation Center free of charge.
