The Student LOT, West Virginia University’s official student pregame tailgating event, has moved to the Evansdale Residential Complex basketball courts located beside Bennett and Lyon Towers.

The Student LOT is free to students and helps promote a positive environment prior to home football games for students. Games, food, giveaways, prizes and music are some of the activities offered at the Student LOT.

In years past, the Student LOT was located on Oakland Street across from the Ronald McDonald house near Milan Puskar Stadium. The location is unavailable due to construction of University Park, a new student housing development.

“Student Organizations Services and other Student Life units continue to work together to give our students a safe and fun place to hang out before the WVU home games,” said Barbara Copenhaver-Bailey, assistant vice president for Student Success. “Thousands of students have visited the LOT, and we hope to have the same turnout at our new location.”

The Student LOT opens three hours before kickoff and closes 30 minutes prior to kickoff. A WVU ID is required to enter the area; however, students are welcome to bring one guest. Alcohol is not permitted.

Students who are traveling from the Downtown Campus on game day can ride the PRT to the Towers station to visit the Student LOT prior to cheering on the Mountaineers.

The Student LOT received the 2011 Innovative Program Award during the West Virginia Association of Student Personnel Administrators conference. This is the fifth year of the Student LOT.
