College Park, a public-private mixed-use housing complex for West Virginia University students as well as students and employees with families, will hold an open house event on Friday (June 27) from noon to 4 p.m. in an effort to attract new tenants.

The event will feature refreshments (food provided by Town Hill Tavern and The Sundae Driver), the Vandalia Band and tours of the 224-unit complex. Participants will be eligible to win a $200 Barnes & Noble gift card, an iPad mini, a 50-inch TV and a year of free rent. Winners must be present to claim prize.

Catering to non-traditional students and families, College Park will be managed and supervised by WVU. The complex is walkable to the WVU Downtown Campus and offers fully furnished one-to-four bedroom apartments. Amenities include wireless high-speed internet, on-site laundry facilities, a community center with an outdoor pavilion for grilling, a game room, a state-of-the-art fitness center, a playground and plenty of parking for tenants.

“WVU is pleased to announce the opening of College Park, which is among our newest University apartment options on our downtown campus,” said Michael Beto, assistant director for University Apartments. “We invite the University and student community to stop by on Friday and take a look at this great new addition.”

WVU is working on this project with American Campus Communities, which is the nation’s largest developer, owner and manager of high-quality student housing communities. March-Westin Co., Inc. is the lead contractor on this project.

A Grand Opening has been tentatively set for early September.
