Students at Pierpont Community and Technical College students will find it easier to transfer their credits into an online bachelor’s degree program at West Virginia University with a new articulation agreement that outlines what courses students should take in their first two years. Officials from both institutions signed the agreement Monday (March 24) at the Pierpont campus in Morgantown.

Students can complete an Associate of Liberal Studies degree following a prescribed curriculum at Pierpont that will then transfer into WVU’s B.A. Pathway program. Students will be admitted into University College where they can complete a Multidisciplinary Studies bachelor’s degree online. WVU will develop an online transfer equivalency system, which will help students and their advisors determine how courses will transfer.

“Through this partnership, we will ensure student success by developing a seamless transition from one school to the other,” said Cindy Hart, director of WVU Online programs. “We’re excited to be working with the Pierpont advisors to develop a pathway for students so they can complete their degree in a timely manner.”

WVU’s online Multidisciplinary Studies degree is unique because it allows students to choose three minors instead of one major. There are currently 18 online minors offered including business administration, forensic and investigative science, communication studies, and strategic social media. Students can tailor a program to meet their career goals.

“Pierpont students know that we view each of them as individuals and this partnership with WVU opens yet another option for individual student planning and progress. We could not be more pleased that the flagship institution of West Virginia recognizes the value of our students and the quality of their education obtained at Pierpont,” said Dr. Doreen Larson, President of Pierpont Community & Technical College.
