Dan Moore, the president of Southwestern Advantage, will speak at West Virginia University on Wednesday (March 5) at 6 p.m. in G-20 Ming Hsieh Hall. The event is hosted by the Career Services Center.

Using his wit and wisdom, Moore will help students answer two very important questions: “What reasons do you have for being in college?” and “Are you using your time effectively to accomplish all you want to accomplish?” He will also share principles and strategies to help students succeed in school and in life.

“WVU students are often asked to engage in a little self-reflection, but it’s not every day that they will be guided through the process by the president of a national organization,” said Sarah Rotruck Glenn, assistant director of the Career Services Center. “He gave an excellent presentation to a packed house last year, and it’s great that so many more students will have the opportunity to learn from him this spring.”

Moore is a 1976 honors graduate from Harvard University, where he studied government. He also holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, where he was selected class speaker.

After Spring Break, students and alumni are encouraged to attend the WVU Career Fair on March 19-20 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. Employers from across the country will be recruiting for summer internships and full-time employment opportunities for upcoming graduates.

“In addition to exposing students to a diverse line-up of employers, career fairs offer the rare chance to network in person with a large number of recruiters,” Glenn said.

Rachel Conrad, employer relations specialist at Career Services, said: “In the age of online applications, it’s a lot easier to stand out among the applicant pool when you’ve met the recruiter face-to-face. We encourage students to attend the fair, so they can begin networking and making connections.”
