The West Virginia University Commission for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Equity (formerly known as the Council on Sexual Orientation) has re-launched on campus and currently is reconstituting its membership and mission.

Working in collaboration with the Division of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion the commission has, over the last six months, worked as an ad hoc group on various initiatives.

The commission is seeking membership for 2013-14 and invites membership nominations and self-nominations from faculty, staff, and students who are committed to improving the climate for diversity, equity and inclusion within the WVU community. The commission seeks a broad-based membership that spans all departments, offices, and units of the University.

Please note that, due to limitations of commission size, not all nominations may result in being invited to serve during a given year. Please e-mail applications, questions, or comments to Chief Diversity Officer David Fryson at The deadline for submissions is Feb. 17 at 5 p.m.

Download this document for more information on the mission and vision of the commission, expectations and representation of members, and the nomination application.
