The West Virginia University Mountainlair Ballrooms will be filled with various genres of talent as WVU faculty and staff showcase their skills in their annual talent show on Friday (Feb. 7) at 7 p.m. The showcase will consist of singing, dancing, belly dancing, piano playing and hammered dulcimer, among other talents.

The co-hosts for the event will be Skip Smith, WVU’s reining Mountaineer Idol, and Paige Madden, reigning Mountaineer Idol runner-up. The celebrity judges will be Jonathan Kimble, Mountaineer Mascot Ryan Campione, Student Government Association president; Brittany Fink, reigning Ms. Mountaineer; Paul Garton, reigning Mr. Mountaineer; and Francis Silva, WVU women’s soccer standout. The tabulator will be Jackie Riggleman, graduate assistant for Mountainlair Programming and Special Events.

The show will begin with a performance by Smith and Madden. While the scores are being tabulated, Smith will perform for the audience.

  • Kevin Hall, staff, Housing & Residential Education
  • Chris Honaker – staff, Dining Services
  • Elizabeth Kyonka – faculty, Department of Psychology
  • Ivan Martinez – faculty, Mary Babb Cancer Center
  • Michael Perone – faculty, Department of Psychology
  • Faith Pirlo – faculty, World Languages, Literature, and Linguistics
  • Shirley Robinson – staff, Academic Affairs
  • Kaushlendra Singh – faculty, Forestry and Natural Resources
  • Litha Sivanandan – staff, Extension Services
  • Carlton Smith – staff, University Police Department

Awards will be given to the winner, first runner-up, second runner-up and the remaining two finalists.

“We are encouraging our entire WVU community to come out and support these talented members of our faculty and staff,” said Sonja Wilson, Mountainlair senior programming administrator. “It’s always interesting to see our faculty and staff as they showcase their hidden talents.”
