The Clarinet Studio in the School of Music at West Virginia University will present “Clarinet Day,” Saturday, Feb. 1, featuring master classes, a repair vendor, and performances by world-class musicians.

The workshop will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the WVU Creative Arts Center. Registration is required, either in advance or in the Creative Arts Center main lobby prior to the beginning for the event.

Guest artist for “Clarinet Day” will be David Drosinos who received his diploma from the Peabody Conservatory of Music and studied clarinet with Loren Kitt, principal clarinetist with the National Symphony Orchestra. Drosinos won the Sidney Jensen Memorial Award for outstanding clarinet performance and has been a guest artist at the Greek Embassy in Washington, D.C., and the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, N.J.

Others taking part in the workshop include: John Weigand, professor of clarinet in the WVU School of Music; Amy McCann, who received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in clarinet from WVU in Dec. 2013; Christopher Bowmaster, currently a doctoral student in clarinet at WVU; and renowned clarinet repair specialist Wesley Rice from Salisbury, Md.
