West Virginia University College of Education and Human Services assistant professor Jeremy Donai was awarded the distinction of fellow by the Foundation of the American College of Healthcare Executives. The title is only awarded after candidates meet several educational and professional requirements.

Formed in 1933, the American College of Health Executives is a Chicago-based professional association for leaders in healthcare with chapters around the world. There are more than 44,000 members, 9,121 of them fellows, in the healthcare professions. Those who earn a fellowship distinguish themselves from their peers by demonstrating their knowledge and expertise in their fields.

In addition to professional experience, Donai was also required to pass a qualifying exam, have at least three years of tenure as a member and complete 40 hours of continuing education credits.

U.S. News & World Report last year ranked the college Speech Pathology and Audiology programs in the top 100 in the nation. Donai’s new title adds to a long list of recent outstanding professional accomplishments for the program.

A professor in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders, he has more than nine years of healthcare experience as a clinical audiologist and Director of Audiology, has participated in professional guidance in audiology, and taught several courses on the topic at Abilene Christian University, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and West Virginia University as a visiting professor. He has also been published in academic journals such as the American Journal of Audiology and The Hearing Journal.

“It is an honor to be named a Fellow of such a great organization like American College of Healthcare Executives,” said Donai. “I plan to maintain a high-level of competence in healthcare administration as I attempt to inspire future hearing healthcare professionals to become involved in healthcare leadership.”
