WELLWVU is encouraging all West Virginia University students to eatWELL and tweatWELL each day. eatWELL, a component of the liveWELL campaign, uses monthly thematic educational programs and social marketing campaigns to promote healthy behaviors.

As New Year’s Resolutions abound, eatWELL encourages students to increase their fruit and vegetable consumption to at least five servings each day. Unlike fad diets and other weight loss programs that promote deprivation, eatWELL teaches a more positive approach to changing nutrition habits.

eatWELL will provide the incentive and education needed for students to make positive changes in their nutritional habits, moving them closer to the CDC recommendation of five to nine servings per day of fruits and vegetables.

tweatWELL is a unique point-based social networking program designed to encourage students to make healthy food choices. The program aims to provide students with an interactive venue for promoting a healthy lifestyle. For more information, visit http://tweatwell.com.

WELLWVU’s Office of Wellness and Health Promotion works in partnership with Residential Education to bring eatWELL programs to students in residence halls. In addition, Freggie Days, which include educational activities and fruit and vegetable food samples at the Mountainlair, will be held on Jan. 14, Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 20. cookWELL classes teach students the essentials of preparing healthy food in a learning kitchen. Classes will be held on Jan. 16, Jan. 23, Jan. 27, Feb. 3, Feb. 13 and Feb. 17 from 6-8 p.m.

WELLWVU encourages any group or affiliation offering programs to WVU students to utilize its resources.
