When the West Virginia University men’s and women’s basketball teams take to the hard court next week in the Capital Classic, Mountaineer fans will be out in full force cheering their teams to victory.

Alumni, fans and friends of WVU are invited to attend the Capital Classic Reception from 5-7 p.m. in the North Hall of the Charleston Civic Center on Saturday, Dec. 14. The event, which attracts thousands of grads and fans, features WVU highlight videos, interactive photos by TapSnap, Mountaineer Market by Zides, light snacks/cash bar, and appearances by WVU and NBA legend Hot Rod Hundley, the Mountaineer Mascot, WVU Cheerleaders and Pep Band.

“The Kanawha Valley is home to thousands of WVU alumni who are passionate about their alma mater,” said Steve Douglas, president and CEO, WVU Alumni Association. “We anticipate a large crowd as we enjoy our great Mountaineer camaraderie while taking in some of the activities. And, to have legendary icon Hot Rod Hundley on hand is an extraordinary opportunity for fans. We hope everyone will come out and cheer the WVU men’s and women’s teams to victory this weekend.”

The pre-game reception is free and open to the public. For more information, visit alumni.wvu.edu.
