The West Virginia University School of Theatre & Dance is presenting the informal fall dance concert “Celebration of Dance,” at the Creative Arts Center, Thursday and Friday, Dec. 5-6. The event is a culmination of this semester’s creative work by choreographers and dancers from the school’s Dance Program and is the first concert to highlight work from students in the new dance major.

There will be two performances on Thursday, Dec. 5—at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m.—and one on Friday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre at the Creative Arts Center. Seating is general admission and all tickets are $9.

“As we enter the holiday season what better way to spice things up than with some exciting and creative choreography and performances by our students,” said Professor Yoav Kaddar, director of the Dance Program. “This ‘Celebration of Dance’ promises to put us all in the holiday spirit.”

The program will present a variety of styles of dance, from hip hop to jazz, and from more classical-influenced movement to contemporary. The concert will feature a variety of ensembles performing a collection of new works by WVU aspiring student choreographers.

Selected works from this concert will be featured in the annual “Dance Now!” concert, to be held February 6-8.

Tickets are available at www.ticketmaster.com, the CAC or Mountainlair Box Offices, or by calling 304-293-SHOW.
