West Virginia University is calling all young ghosts and goblins to come trick-or-treat with various student organizations. Sponsored by the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the sixth-annual Trunk-or-Treat event will be held on Friday (Nov. 1) from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Coliseum RV Parking Lot and concourse of the Coliseum.

Various organizations across the University and from around the area will hand out candy from the trunks of their vehicles to all the children in costumes. All participants are asked to bring clear plastic grocery bags to collect candy.

The event has seen more than 1,000 children in attendance in previous years, said Joshua Rowan, president of WVU’s Institute for Industrial Engineers chapter.

“Trunk-or-Treat is a great event for organizations to come together and to allow the children to trick-or-treat in a safe and friendly environment,” he added.

Also, this year’s Trunk-or-Treat will be in conjunction with the WVU women’s basketball Haunted Hoops exhibition game. The event is free to attend.

In the case of rain, Trunk-or-Treat will be held at the Shell Building, and participating student organizations should be prepared with chairs and a table to set up an indoor booth.
