West Virginia University service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega is going the distance to raise money for autism awareness. For the 44th year, APO is hosting a relay-style run from Pittsburgh to Morgantown, and all money raised goes toward the Autism Society of Pittsburgh.

The run, scheduled for Nov. 2, is an all-day event that begins with participants leaving Morgantown at 4 a.m. to drive to Pittsburgh. Participants will then alternate 20-minute turns racing back to the Morgantown in the hopscotch, relay-style run.

Runners will carry American flags and a puzzle piece to represent autism awareness as they complete the 73-mile trek.

Registration for the event is $50. Those interested in donating can contact wvuaporun@gmail.com for further information. APO has raised $2,000 of its $4,500 goal for this year.

In addition, APO is selling baked goods, raffling off gift baskets and hosting games with prizes to contribute to the cause on Wednesday, Oct. 23 on the Downtown Campus. Over the past four decades, APO has raised over half a million dollars for the Autism Society.
