The West Virginia University Office of the Veterans’ Advocate is presenting “From Camouflage to Campus,” a presentation aiming to inform the West Virginia University community on veteran issues and resources on campus on Thursday, Oct. 24.

The presentation, held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., will feature a veteran panel discussion on diversity from students’ experiences in the classroom and on campus. It will also include “Veterans on Call,” which will include speakers explaining their transition from military to Mountaineer.

A number of speakers are scheduled to attend: Guest speaker Lt. Col. Lisa Rosser will present “The Value of a Veteran.” Also in attendance will be Vice President of Student Affairs Ken Gray, Professor Carolyn Atkins, and Interim Veterans Advocate Jerry McCarthy.

Peter Allen, U.S. Marine Corps, will present “Thirteen Weeks in Paradise”; Paul Jerabek, U.S. Army, will present “The Last Jump”; Dennis Riberio, U.S. Army, will present “Another Day”; and Nicholas Shamblin, Army National Guard, will present “A Time to Change.”

After the discussions, guests are encouraged to stay and greet more than 20 organizations that can serve the needs of West Virginia University staff, student veterans, and their families. Community experts will be available to speak on services available to the veteran community.

Refreshments will be provided.
