The West Virginia University Personal Rapid Transit system will be closed for the next few weeks while workers conduct system maintenance. The repairs will include a variety of electrical projects and non-critical structural repairs to the guideway and infrastructure in order to ensure long-term preventive maintenance of the system in an effort to improve the functionality and reliability of the service.

The PRT system will resume its normal summer schedule on Monday, June 3.

During this period, the University will offer free bus shuttle service starting the week of May 20 that connects all campuses and provides pick-up and drop-off at current PRT stops. The shuttle service will operate Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Stops for the PRT Shuttle will be Mountaineer Station on Van Voorhis Road; Towers Station, the Engineering Loop, the Mountainlair (inbound toward the downtown area), Walnut at Chestnut Street, and Beechurst Station Loop (outbound towards Evansdale. A schedule for the shuttle route can be found at http://transportation.wvu.edu/prt .

In addition to the PRT bus shuttle during the period, WVU students and employees are reminded that there is free access to the Mountain Line bus service with a valid WVU ID. For more information on Mountain Line routes and services, please go to the service’s website at www.busride.org. Also, keep in mind that the week of May 13 is National Bike to Work Week, a good opportunity to ride your bike to work.
