The event begins at 6 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
The flute choir will be performing “Blue Train” by Ryohei Hirose (1930-2008), “Purple Earth” by Samantha Cooke and “Sunburst Flights” by Stephen Barr, which is being premiered at the concert.
The event also includes works by Georges Hue (1858-1948), Ian Clarke (b.1964), Tadaaki Otaka (b.1947), George Enescu (1881-1955) and Shulamit Ran (b.1949).
Solo performances will feature WVU students Anna Carpenter, Mirim Lee, Taylor Meyers, Alyssa Schwartz, Letty Shreckengost and Mary Stahl.
“The students are at the height of their semester with these pieces,” said flute professor Nina Assimakopoulos. “Many have performed on-campus recitals featuring these works and they look forward to sharing them with the greater Morgantown community.”
The flute choir pieces will showcase the flute, piccolo and alto and bass flutes the entire flute family from smallest to largest.
