“Dancing with Our Mountaineer Stars” competitors will host a blood drive on Monday (Feb. 25) from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the West Virginia University Mountainlair Ballrooms.

Volunteers can sign up to donate blood online at http://redcrossblood.org/ with sponsor code: dwts. The blood drive is open to the public.

Sponsored by the American Red Cross, Mountaineer Maniacs, the Sigma Nu fraternity, and Student Association of Public Administrators, the blood drive will require at least 130 individuals to donate.

The volunteers can donate their pint of blood on behalf of a pair in the “Dancing with Our Mountaineer Stars” competition. The number of pints collected by each pair will be added to its score in the competition to help determine the winner.

The “Dancing with Our Mountaineer Stars” competition takes place on March 2 at 8:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

“It’s so important for us to donate blood. It truly does save lives. I have had family members and friends who have relied on others’ donated blood to stay living, and, because of that, it’s easy for me to spread the word that it is an important cause,” said Becca Fint-Clark, WVU Extension Service agent and “Dancing with Our Mountaineer Stars” participant. “This is such a fun way to promote the blood drive and partner with the Red Cross, as a member of the WVU community.”
