The Center for Executive Education at the West Virginia University College of Business and Economics has announced two programs in partnership with the Society for Human Resource Management, the leading global HR professional organization.

The WVU SHRM Learning System is designed for HR practitioners seeking their Professional in Human Resources or Senior Professional in Human Resources certification. The schedule for the SHRM program will be different than in previous years in an effort to accommodate working professionals. The upcoming spring program will meet on seven, non-consecutive Tuesday afternoons from 12:30-6:30 p.m., from Jan. 15 through April 23, 2013. This new schedule will allow participants to take a half-day off work rather than missing a whole day or making an already long workday even longer.

Former participants of the WVU SHRM Learning System have had an exam pass rate of more than 90 percent, far exceeding the national pass rates. Additionally, each module of the WVU SHRM Learning System is available separately for those who are interested in up-to-date information and latest practices on specific HR topics such as Business Management and Strategy; Workforce Planning and Employment; HR Development; Compensation and Benefits; Risk Management; and Employee and Labor Relations.

The WVU SHRM Essentials of HR Management will be offered on Feb. 22-23, 2013 in Morgantown.

The workshop is intended for small business owners, office managers, new or experienced supervisors, new and junior HR practitioners, and anyone interested in becoming more effective at handling day-to-day HR issues. WVU SHRM Essentials of HR Management provides a solid foundation in human resource management and is effective training across multiple job disciplines and career paths. This workshop is eligible for 1.5 CEUs and 15 PHR/SPHR/GPHR Recertification Credit Hours.

Information sessions on the programs on will be conducted by B&E Nov. 15 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Wharf District’s Marina Tower, Room 401, and Nov. 28 from noon to 1 p.m. in the WVU Mountainlair in Hatfield’s B. Pizza will be provided for lunch while guests are provided with information about the program and are invited to ask questions.
