West Virginia University is asking all students, faculty, staff, alumni and other WVU fans to show support for their school by wearing gold and blue on Friday (Aug. 31).
WVU is one of many universities around the country taking part in national College Colors Day, an annual celebration dedicated to promoting the traditions and spirit that make the college experience memorable.
Parents are also encouraged to send their children to school on Friday in their gold and blue, as well. WVU is looking to find the best-dressed “Young Mountaineer” fan. Photos of kids in eighth grade and below can be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org on Friday to be automatically entered to win a WVU prize pack.
In addition, WVU is asking all students, faculty, staff, alumni and other fans to wear gold and blue each Friday as part of the third year of Mountaineer Fridays.
WVU has teamed up with Nike to produce an official 2012 WVU Fan Shirt. The shirt features the Mountaineer Mascot trademark on the front with the words “keep climbing” underneath. That phrase was developed with the ideals of West Virginians and Mountaineers in mind, such as hard work, humility and pride. It also features a one-of-a-kind Big 12 logo.
Since its inception in 2005, College Colors Day has grown rapidly across the country. Thousands of organizations and millions of individuals participate annually by donning their team colors and sharing in the college spirit with friends and colleagues.
