West Virginia University College of Creative Arts Dean Paul Kreider is available to speak on the death of Marvin Hamlisch, a beloved American composer who wrote music for films such as “The Sting” and won prestigious awards for his musical “A Chorus Line.”
Hamlisch, who has conducted for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, has visited WVU several times for master classes with students and gave the Brown lecture in 2004. He has also performed at WVU with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra.
Kreider is available to speak on WVU’s relationship with the composer.
Before taking the post of dean in 2011, Kreider served as the dean of the College of Fine Arts and Communication at Western Illinois University. He has a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Arizona and has performed with the Lyric Opera of Chicago, among other credits.
