Al Ebron, executive director of the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium at West Virginia University, has been invited to participate in a White House event that will celebrate the resurgence of the auto industry and recognize its leaders on Wednesday, June 27 in Washington, D.C.

Ebron will be joined by a diverse representation of auto-sector stakeholders from throughout the U.S. who have encouraged innovation and investment in technologies that have increased the country’s economic competitiveness and reduced its dependence on foreign oil.

“I am honored to be asked to participate in this prestigious event,” Ebron said. “It is exciting and a privilege to be able to share the story of West Virginia University’s energy programs, especially the success of the National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium.”

In partnership with auto manufacturers, the United Auto Workers, states, and environmental stakeholders, the Obama Administration has developed historic fuel efficiency standards that will nearly double the fuel efficiency of cars and light duty trucks by 2025 and save consumers $1.7 trillion at the pump.

To watch the event live, visit www.whitehouse.gov/live at 2:30 p.m. June 27.

Ebron has more than 23 years of experience in alternative fuel and advanced technology vehicle projects, including projects in biofuels, gaseous fuels, hybrid electric and electric vehicles, and hydrogen and fuel cell vehicles. During his tenure, Ebron has grown the NAFTC to include over 50 National Training Centers from Maine to California, and managed more than $30 million in program funds for education, energy and technical projects. NAFTC is a national leader in developing, managing, and promoting programs and activities that encourage U.S. energy independence and greater use of cleaner transportation.
