Ask any Mountaineer fan which road game is on the top of their list, and you’re likely to hear “Texas.” It’s on the list for the West Virginia University Alumni Association, too. Alumni and friends can enjoy a “road trip” to see the big game as part of a unique travel opportunity with the Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club.
“We are very excited about this wonderful travel opportunity,” said Steve Douglas, president and CEO, WVU Alumni Association. “We wanted to make a big splash into the Big XII, and this is a great way to do it. Fans will enjoy the City of Austin and the beautiful campus of the University of Texas.”
The trip includes a game ticket, round-trip chartered air service from Clarksburg, W.Va., to Austin, Texas, round-trip deluxe airport transfers from the airport to the Radisson Hotel and Suites Downtown where fans will enjoy a two-night stay. All appropriate taxes and transfers are included in the price. The flight leaves Oct. 5 and returns Oct. 7.
The package also includes full breakfast each day at the Radisson, a WVU welcome gathering, round-trip deluxe motor coach transfers to and from the hotel to the stadium on game day, WVU tour souvenir, and lanyard/ticket holder. Travelers also will have the opportunity to purchase (at an additional charge) tickets to a pre-game event hosted by the WVU Alumni Association. Details for the pre-game event, including cost and location, will be announced at a later date.
The Radisson will serve as the official headquarters of the WVU Alumni Association and also serves as the team hotel. WVU Sports Travel and alumni officials will host the trip and will staff a hospitality desk at the hotel.
It is anticipated that these packages will sell quickly. Alumni, friends and fans are encouraged to register for the travel package by visiting http://www.wvusportstravel.com or by calling 1-888-373-5067.
The Mountaineers will face off against the Longhorns on Saturday, Oct. 6 (time to be announced).
