Robert E. Corsi Jr., assistant deputy chief of staff for Manpower, Personnel, and Services, U.S. Air Force, will deliver the annual Gochenour Lecture in West Virginia University’s Department of Industrial and Management Systems Engineering. The event is Thursday, April 12, at 3:30 p.m., in room 113 of the Mineral Resources Building on the Evansdale Campus.

The lecture, entitled “Engineer to Senior Executive: Living Outside Your Comfort Area,” is free and open to the public. A reception will follow.

Corsi, who earned his master’s degree in industrial engineering from WVU in 1975, oversees the execution and programming of the Manpower, Personnel, and Services portfolio with an annual $40.9 billion personnel budget for 660,000 military and civilian total force airmen. As chair of the Civilian Force Development Panel, he plans, directs, and evaluates programs to ensure a qualified, productive, and well-maintained work force of more than 180,000 civilian employees.

Corsi was commissioned upon graduation from Manhattan College. During the next 28 years, he served in a variety of positions of increasing responsibility at wing, major command, and Air Force headquarters levels.

Prior to assuming his current position, Corsi served as the deputy administrative assistant to the Secretary of the Air Force and as the deputy director, Manpower and Organization. He assumed his current position in October 2011. Corsi is a registered professional engineer.

The Donald L. Gochenour Lecture Series was established in 1985 to honor the late Dr. Gochenour, a distinguished professor of industrial engineering at WVU.
