Throughout the year, West Virginia University invites students, faculty and staff to share their culture with each other. But every spring there are special days set aside for just this kind of activity.

Diversi-Tea

Kicking off Spring Diversity Days is the Third Annual Spring Diversi-Tea celebration. Sponsored by the President’s Office for Social Justice, the Council for Women’s Concerns, the Office of International Students and Scholars and the Center for Women’s Studies, the event will be held Wednesday, April 11, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

The event will honor groups and individuals within WVU that have shown appreciation, dedication and understanding for our diverse campus. Participants will get the chance to taste desserts and teas from around the world, including teas such as Assam Tea from India, Bubble Tea from China, Jamaica Flower Tea from Mexico, and Turkish Black Tea from Turkey.

Jo Ann Dadisman, retired WVU English professor, will provide entertainment with a skit presentation. Business attire is encouraged for the Diversi-Tea celebration, and all are welcome to attend.

Africa Night

The African Students Association is sponsoring the annual African Night celebration on Saturday, April 14, at 5 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. This year’s theme is “One.Diverse.Africa.”

The featured entertainment for the evening is The Balafon West African Dance Ensemble of Pittsburgh as they perform traditional West African Dance.

Traditional African cuisine will be the dinner menu. Tickets are available for purchase in the Mountainlair.
