West Virginia University’s Center for Black Culture & Research and NAACP student chapter are honoring students and University staff for their various contributions and efforts at the second NAACP Image Awards held tonight (April 2) in the Mountainlair Ballrooms.

The ceremony begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and semi-formal attire is expected. The night will also include presentations, music, refreshments and entertainment, including the EFM Cares Fashion Event that will follow the awards ceremony.

Based on the national award ceremony that recognizes those in the arts who promote social justice, this ceremony at WVU intends to draw attention to the people on campus who have achieved much personally as well as those who have worked tirelessly elevate the community as a whole.

About 40 awards will be given to students, University staff and others.

Categories for the awards include: Community Activist of the Year, Professor of the Year, Male Athlete of the Year, Female Athlete of the Year, Agent of Change Award, Administrator of the Year, Student Organization of the Year and The Rising Star.
