Graduation’s coming: Help us make it a memorable one for our WVU seniors

When you cross University Avenue in front of the Mountainlair, you probably don’t look left or right. You might even send a text while walking across Grumbein’s Island (yes, that’s what it’s called … seriously).

When the Mountaineers get a first down, you put your hands up in unison, wait for the “First down West Virginia” call and the rest you know by heart.

Why? In any other stadium, fans would look at you with an eyebrow raised.

It’s just what we do here at WVU. It’s why we’re a special school.

WVU graduating seniors, students, alumni, Mountaineer fans: We want to know what you would tell an incoming freshman about WVU to help them navigate their college career. What would you like to have known prior to stepping foot on campus that would’ve made your life easier?

We’ll document your responses in what we’re calling the “Mountaineer Code.” Think of it as the “Bro Code” from “How I Met Your Mother” without all the, well, bro.

  • Is there a place that nobody knows about where you liked to study?
  • Is there a sports tradition you wish you knew about before coming to campus?
  • Is there an under-the-radar dining hall that’s better than the rest?
  • We want to know that and so much more to help better document WVU’s “Mountaineer Code.”

Follow @WestVirginiaU on Twitter and become of fan of West Virginia University on Facebook. Each day for the next two weeks, we’ll ask questions on both social media sites to help us document the “Mountaineer Code.”

In addition to the “Mountaineer Code,” you’ll also have the opportunity to help us out with many other projects we’re working on this spring for Commencement. Keep an eye on your MIX announcements for more chances to participate.

When you’re tweeting about graduation or Commencement, make sure to use the #wvugrad hashtag, and you might get retweeted to nearly 17,000 followers.

Help us help you remember the next month for the rest of your lives. Your legacy will live on for generations of WVU classes to come with the “Mountaineer Code.”
