Various West Virginia University vocal and jazz ensembles from the School of Music, including the Women’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble, will perform during “Live at Falbo,” a jazz concert at the Creative Arts Center, Sunday, March 18.

The concert begins at 3:15 p.m. in the Antoinette Falbo Theatre and is free and open to the public.

According to Jeffry Blake Johnson, interim director of the WVU Choral Program, the concert is a mixture of vocal and instrumental jazz, and a wonderful mixture of jazz standards, new pieces, and experimental music.

It will feature the instrumental groups Lilypad, Last Minute, DLT, Bȃrbȃtie, GLQ, Osteology and Quite Frankly, the vocal group Same Difference, and the Women’s Vocal Jazz Ensemble.

The program will include “Mingle in the Mincing Machine” by Esbjorn Svensson Trio.; “Underground Theme from Super Mario” by Koji Kondo; “Take Five” by Dave Brubek and Paul Desmond; “When Sunny Gets Blue” by Marvin Fischer and Jack Segal; “Tico Tico” by Zequinha Abreu, Aloysio Olivera and Ervin Drake; “Tell Me a Bedtime Story” by Herbie Hancock; “Somethin’s Goin’ On” by WVU student Cody Barcroft; “Chrono Trigger” by Yasunori Mitsuda; “How High the Moon” by Nancy Hamilton and Morgan Lewis; “Tuxedo Junction” by Erskine Hawkins and Bill Johnson; “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon; “Super Bass” by Nicki Minaj; “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired” (traditional); and “Learning to Count” by WVU student Frank DiDiano.
