Mary Kefferstan will take the stage for a piano recital at West Virginia University’s Bloch Learning and Performance Hall in the Creative Arts Center on March 5, at 6 p.m.

The recital will feature “Prelude and Fugue, C# major, Bk 2” by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750), “Sonata Op. 110” by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827), “Au bord d’une Source” by Franz Liszt (1811-1886) from “Annees de pelerinage” and “Sonata #4 in F# Major, Op. 30” by Alexander Scriabin (1871-1915).

Kefferstan is the daughter of Christine Kefferstan, professor of piano at WVU.

She is currently completing her master’s of music degree at Bowling Green State University in the studio of Dr. Laura Melton, and she is also a member of the Chiarrascuro Piano Trio. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Duquesne University, where she performed in the Contemporary Music Ensemble and the Duquesne University Wind Symphony.

Her other accomplishments include winning the Mary Pappert School of Music concerto competition and receiving a full scholarship to attend the Brevard Summer Music Festival in 2011. Kefferstan also had the opportunity to attend Oberlin College’s summer music program in Casselmaggiore, Italy.

The recital is free and open to the public.
