West Virginia University’s Allen and Percival halls were evacuated briefly Friday after a minor chlorine leak.

Officials said an empty chlorine tank in Allen Hall was tapped, releasing residual chlorine gas. No injuries were reported, however Allen and Percival halls, which are connected, were evacuated until the air could be tested. The buildings were reopened about a hour later.

Officials from WVU’s Department of Environmental Health & Safety, University Police and Morgantown Fire Department responded to the leak.

The two buildings are located on the University’s Evansdale campus.
