The Career Services Center at West Virginia University is offering students a unique opportunity to polish their professional development skills with a Mocktail Party and Fashion Show held on Friday (Feb. 24).

The event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms and is geared toward junior, senior and graduate students looking to expand their networking and job search skills.

“Students will have an opportunity to simulate several professional settings in a controlled environment,” said David Durham, director of Career Services. “Participants will learn the finer points of acceptable behavior and etiquette from experts in their respective fields as well as the ‘do’s and don’ts’ of dressing professionally.”

In order to attend, students must RSVP on MountaineerTRAK by searching under the “Career Fairs and Events” option. Light appetizers will be served, and there will be prizes drawn for students in attendance.

Durham said this event is much different than others offered by the Career Services Center.

“The Center’s schedule offers a variety of seminars and presentations that address the career preparation subjects individually, but the Mocktail Party and Fashion Show specifically creates a unique opportunity to put them all together and practice in ‘real time,’” he said.
