Katherine Bomkamp, the 20-year-old West Virginia University student who’s made headlines for her groundbreaking medical device, now has a blog.

Bomkamp posted her first blog entry today (Feb. 16) as she departs for London, England, where she will speak at the Royal Society of Medicine’s Medical Innovations Summit on Saturday. The political science sophomore is the youngest person to present in front of the prestigious medical education group.

She has earned global media coverage from The New York Times, Glamour Magazine, CNN and BBC for her development of a prosthetic device designed to eliminate phantom pain in amputees.

Here you can follow the young inventor’s journey abroad as she blogs about her experiences traveling to the United Kingdom, presenting research to 300 medical professionals and soaking in a foreign land for the first time. The blog will be ongoing, as she will continue posting on it after the London trip. To see the blog, go to http://bomkamp.blogs.wvu.edu/.
