West Virginia University’s College of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences host its Inaugural CPASS Golf Classic at Lakeview Golf Resort & Spa Friday, April 13.

An entry fee of $200 per golfer includes a Thursday evening pairings reception, lunch, 18 holes of golf with a cart and an evening reception.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the funding of the new CPASS building, scheduled to open in the fall of 2013 on WVU’s Evansdale campus. The $20 million state-of-the-art facility will border the new Evansdale Recreation Fields and will be located adjacent to the Student Recreation Center, creating a wellness precinct on the Evansdale campus.

“The College’s inaugural golf classic offers an opportunity for CPASS alumni and friends to return to their roots and enjoy an afternoon reliving old times,” said CPASS Dean Dr. Dana Brooks.

“The gathering will allow us to provide updates about the College. Most importantly, the fundraising activities open up an avenue for alumni and friends to make a difference in the lives of current and future students.”

The tournament format will be a scramble. Players may register as individuals or a four person team. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams. Registration is being accepted at (304) 293-0842 or twheeler@mail.wvu.edu. or at: www.mountaineerconnection.com/cpassgolfclassic

Each team that registers will be paired with a WVU sport “celebrity.” The list of “celebrities” includes former WVU and NFL football players. Major Harris, Garrett Ford, Eric Boykin, George Henshaw, John Mallory and Mike Sherwood are among the WVU players who will participate.

Prizes include a hole-in-one vehicle giveaway, closest to the pin, longest drive and putting accuracy contests.
