West Virginia University’s Gender Equality Movement, with assistance from the Division of Theatre and Dance, will be holding open auditions for the 2012 V-Day Benefit Performance of The Vagina Monologues: West Virginia University. The auditions will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 7:30-9:30 p.m. at the ‘Slab’ Theater, room 239A in the Creative Arts Center on WVU’s Evansdale campus.

No theater experience is necessary to participate. Readings will be provided; participants will have time to read over before their audition.

GEM encourages all students, faculty and community members to participate in raising awareness about violence against women and girls and to raise money for the local Rape and Domestic Violence Information Center. The beginning of this new semester brings these auditions as well as the official announcement of the Gender Equality Movement’s name change from the Feminist Majority Leadership Alliance.

To get involved in GEM, contact WVUGEM@gmail.com or attend a meeting on Wednesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Cacapon Room of the Mountainlair.
