Sun, citrus and beautiful beaches. The football team sealed a spot in the Jan. 4, 2012 Discover Orange Bowl against the Clemson Tigers. Alumni, fans and friends are invited to join the WVU Alumni Association and Mountaineer Athletic Club for a special travel opportunity to Miami, Fla.

WVU Sports Travel will offer five convenient options for those hoping to travel to the bowl game in Miami, including deluxe charter and land-only packages.

Deluxe charter package will leave from the North Central Regional Airport in Clarksburg Monday, Jan. 2, and return Thursday, Jan. 5. This package includes direct, round trip charter air transportation, appropriate in-flight services, round trip airport/hotel transfers and baggage handling, pre-registration at hotel, and hotel accommodations at the following hotels: Ritz Carlton in South Beach (beach front); Hotel InterContinental on the Biscayne Bay; or Sheraton Miami Hotel (land-only).

Packages also include round trip game transfers, the official souvenir Orange Bowl Patch, shuttles to and from hotels to the beach, special activities and more.

Travelers are encouraged to add a game ticket for an additional cost ($225). Special tours of the Everglades and Fairchild Tropical Gardens also will be available at a nominal cost for those interested in taking in some of the local sights.

The InterContinental will serve as the official headquarters of the Alumni Association. WVU Sports Travel and alumni officials will serve as travel hosts for the length of the trip and will staff a hospitality desk at the Ritz.

The times and location for other WVU fan events will be announced at a later date once details are finalized. Alumni and fans can visit http://bowlgame.wvu.edu to stay in tune with latest news, wish the team good luck and interact with fellow Mountaineers.

WVU officially accepted an invitation to the Discover Orange Bowl on Sunday, Dec. 4. The game will be televised on ESPN. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m.
