Engineering bridges of spaghetti noodles and marshmallows. Powering a flashlight with a potato. Discovering freezing point depression by making ice cream. Area youth will use these every day, edible objects and more to learn at Science Day at the Children’s Discovery Museum of West Virginia.

West Virginia University education students will collaborate to offer the second annual event on Saturday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Children’s Discovery Museum is located next to General Glass Home Center in the Mountaineer Mall on Green Bag Road.

Dr. Jeffrey Carver’s (assistant professor, College of Human Resources and Education) Curriculum and Instruction and Introduction to Inquiry students will offer hands-on experiments and games.

“The event grew out of a service project with my science education students,” Carvers said. “It has grown in size and offerings to include education, engineering, physics, nanotechnology, robotics and other sciences.”
