WVU's students think they can dance...with the stars

During October, performers from competitive dance TV shows "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" taught WVU dance students some moves, what it takes to make it in the professional dance scene and the importance of putting your heart into performance.

On the surface, it was just another dance rehearsal.

But when you looked at the instructors, you saw a little more star power than that of your average dance class.

During October, performers from competitive dance TV shows “So You Think You Can Dance” and “Dancing with the Stars” taught West Virginia University dance students some moves, what it takes to make it in the professional dance scene and the importance of putting your heart into performance.

It was just 90 minutes. But after those 90 minutes, the students left with more excitement for their art and had pictures on their cell phones of themselves with the former contestants they had cheered on TV.

A slice of this master class can be seen on a new video produced by WVU’s University Relations team.

Master classes are some of the many ways the program enriches WVU’s dance students and grows an appreciation for dance in West Virginia.
