The West Virginia University Mountaineer Idol Gives Back campaign has announced its continued partnership with Jessi’s Pals for its 2011 benefit show.

Since 2007, the partnership has collected more than 2,000 new stuffed animals for WVU Children’s Hospital. This year, Mountaineer Idol hopes to collect even more stuffed animals and raise monetary support for the cause through donations and a silent auction.

In conjunction with Fall Family Weekend, the Mountaineer Idol Gives Back charity show will be held on Oct. 14 at 8:30 p.m. in the Mountainlair Ballrooms. The event is free and open to students and their family and friends. The top seven finalists will perform their favorite country hits.

A silent auction is planned for the event. Items include sports memorabilia, special gift baskets and other prizes from local vendors. The audience is asked to bring a new stuffed animal to the show as well as empty Coca-Cola products. For every empty can or bottle, Coca-Cola has agreed to donate $5 to Jessi’s Pals.

To donate stuffed animals before the event, please drop off all items to the administrative office located on the second floor of the Mountainlair. Newly bought stuffed animals can also be shipped to the Development Office at:

WVU Children’s Hospital Development Office
1111 Van Voorhis Road Third Floor
Morgantown, WV 26506
