West Virginia University officials today (Sept. 30) announced that an anonymous donor has pledged a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of the person or persons responsible for an unlawful assault following the Sept. 24th football game in Morgantown.

One of the victims suffered significant injuries to his face and underwent surgery. He is recuperating at home. Three others suffered minor injuries. The incident occurred near Chestnut Ridge Road, behind the Sheetz convenience store.

“Such a random, senseless act of violence has no place in this town,” said WVU Police Chief Bob Roberts. “Our community, our state, our University are appalled. We will not tolerate this type of behavior from anyone, and I urge any witnesses to this crime to come forward with information to assist this investigation.”

Witnesses have described the suspects as white males, possibly driving a light-colored SUV. The main aggressor is described to be in his early 20s, over 6-feet tall, weighing over 200 pounds, with short curly brown hair. He was reported to be wearing khaki shorts and a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Morgantown Police at 304-284-7454 or University Police at 304-293-COPS (2677).
