The Goo Goo Dolls will bring their unmistakable sound to the Morgantown Event Center on Sunday, Oct. 16. General admission tickets are on at the Mountainlair and Creative Arts Center box offices. Tickets may also be purchased online at ticketmaster.com or by phone at 800-745-3000 and 304-293-SHOW.

Formed in 1986 in the crumbling rust belt city of Buffalo, N.Y., the Goo Goo Dolls were inspired by Paul Westerberg and The Replacements. Admittedly formed to for no better reason than to kill time, make some music, and hopefully get a few free beverages from the clubs where they were lucky enough to get a gig, the band quickly proved their worth, earning four Grammy nominations, 13 consecutive Top 10 multi-format hit songs and more than 10-million albums sold.

“Superstar Car Wash,” released in 1993 became the Goo Goo Dolls’ artistic breakthrough. After landing two huge hits with acoustic ballads “Name” and “Iris” (which originally appeared on the City of Angels soundtrack), the band has seen enormous success—having toured extensively around the world. The group is currently touring in support of their latest album “Something for the Rest of Us.”

“I wanted some of the material on this album to address the disillusionment of the difficult period we live in,” says founding member John Rzeznik. Written and recorded over the past couple of years, this “Something for the Rest of Us” delivers another dose of great Goo Goo Dolls songs such as “Sweetest Lie,” “One Night” and “Soldier.”

General admission tickets for the Oct. 16th show are $37. WVU students may purchase tickets for only $27 with a valid Mountaineer Card (one discounted ticket per I.D.). This event is produced by WVU Arts & Entertainment. For additional event information, call 304-293-SHOW.
