Heading off to college is not an experience felt solely by students.

For parents, that transition can be just as worrisome.

Letting a child go is hard, but the Mountaineer Parents Club at West Virginia University makes that transition easier.

Created in 1995, the Mountaineer Parents Club keeps parents and family members connected to the WVU student experience. The Club lends a helping hand to families missing their Mountaineers by hosting Summer Send-Offs, Fall Family Weekend and a toll-free helpline (1-800-WVU-0096).

More than 20,000 members in 66 local clubs – stretching from Connecticut to Nevada – benefit from these resources.

Through the Parents Club, families become part of the Mountaineer family, too.
